The Daily Iowan and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa are excited to announce a photo and essay book chronicling this celebrated Iowa women’s basketball season.

Nine SJMC students recently traveled to Chicago, IL for a four day journalism and mass communications experience course, “Chicago Sports Media Experience.” Students spent valuable time meeting and networking with professionals.

The University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication is excited to announce that Francisco Paulo Jamil Marques will be joining as an associate professor of journalism studies in 2024-2025. 

While the Iowa Women’s Basketball team enjoys a sold-out season and national accolades, Event Management Certificate students are there helping make it happen.

Twenty-one talented Event Management Certificate students are headed to the desert in February to learn about the event management industry in Phoenix, Arizona, as part of the program’s spring professional development field trip.

The Event Management Certificate traveled in October to Las Vegas for the IMEX conference, one of the largest international conferences in the events industry, drawing more than 17,000 attendees this year.

Kimmi Chex, on-air host for NFL Network and Iowa SJMC alum, visited Iowa last Friday, October 6. Chex captivated students with her personality and career as well as motivated many to go out and live their dreams.

Sang Jung Kim's research, “Going Beyond Affective Polarization: How Emotions and Identities are Used in Anti-Vaccination TikTok Videos,'' was published in Political Communication.  

University of Iowa SJMC Professional Advisory Board member, Professor emeritus and former Director of the University of Tennessee’s School of Journalism and Electronic Media (2006-2016) Peter Gross’ published a new book, “The Cultural Core of Media Systems.”

Senior Grace Smith won the top national award in the “General News Photography” category from the Society of Professional Journalists.
