Track Options
Undergraduate students may choose to complete the Bachelor of Arts with a major in journalism and mass communication without a track or declare one of three optional tracks. Declaring a track is most appropriate for students who want to deepen their focus in the field. All students must complete the introduction and foundation course requirements. Application and capstone course requirements vary for each optional track.
Multimedia Production and Design
Students in this track will be prepared for photo, video, audio and design careers in content creation, strategic communication and marketing, or journalism. Students will develop a flexible toolbox of skills to produce professional-level multimedia and design work for strategic communication and news.
Reporting and Writing
Students in this track will be prepared for careers in the news media and any field where excellent writing is required. Students will write news and feature stories on topics they care about and will develop design and multimedia skills to be well-rounded journalism professionals.
Strategic Communication
Students in this track will be prepared for careers in public relations, social media, content marketing, advertising, nonprofit and internal marketing communications. Students will learn to develop creative communication that reaches diverse audiences and helps organizations meet their goals.
