“The first half of my internship has flown by! I’ve been given diverse communication and marketing tasks like copywriting for our social media posts using the quirky, community-driven brand voice, prepared PR statements for a wide array of situations, created a fantasy themed credit card quiz for our blog, and learned a lot about creating and implementing internal software! I feel so supported by my amazing team and I am super grateful for the opportunity to apply the skills I've learned at the School of Journalism and Mass Comm to a real business!"

"At WMTV-15 in Madison, Wisconsin I work as a Multimedia Journalist. I have gotten to cover stories in the Madison area. For each story, I edit together my b-roll and write out my scripts for channel 15's nightly shows at 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 p.m. I've also had to convert my scripts into web stories and take photos to display on the web."

“This summer, I’m working as a Marketing Intern at Paylocity; an HR, payroll, and IT company all in one. In my first four weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to assist at a client event and hear commentary on a specific product, conduct research on Paylocity’s competitors, expand my software knowledge, and write two blog posts for their website. Overall, I’ve gained meaningful insight into the corporate world, and I’m excited to continue learning and growing throughout the rest of the summer!"

"Working at KCCI allows me to do something different every day. Each morning starts with a pitch meeting where producers and reporters discuss the stories that will run in that day’s newscast while also sharing new story ideas. After the meeting, I am often paired with reporters to help cover stories, shoot video, and gather interviews. I also have the opportunity to film my own standups and ask questions during interviews. When breaking news happens, we quickly head to the scene and adapt to the changing situation. Throughout my internship, I’ve learned a lot about putting together news packages, finding different angles for stories, and strengthening my writing skills. Every day provides a new opportunity to learn more about the fast-paced world of broadcast journalism."

"So far I’ve mainly been focused on post creation and posting! My main task has been effectively managing the Bleacher Report Facebook during my shifts, and trying to drive referrals towards the BR site and articles written by the staff! Also have gotten to work with House of Highlights on some super fun stuff but that I’m not able to share yet."

"This summer, I am working for the Happy Joe’s Support Center as their Marketing and Video Intern! Over the summer, I have been tasked with creating three elaborate videos that will be used to promote the Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream brand. I get to interview many franchisees about their stories during their time with Happy Joe’s and how it’s such a special restaurant for families to make magical memories in! In this role, I also get to help build relationships between other businesses and Happy Joe’s by delivering promotional pizzas and items with Happy the Dog. It’s been great meeting so many nice people and going on some fun adventures with Happy, and of course, eating lots of pizza!"

"At the National Senior Games Association, I am a Communications and Content creation Intern during the games, which is from July 23rd- August 4th. At this internship, I am given daily assignments to complete. This is usually in the form of one written story for the Games Daily (the news site for the games), video/photo collection, and one or two posts for the National Senior Games social media pages. I have strict, daily deadlines for these tasks, and I have learned a lot about writing and video editing!"

"As the Production Intern for the Sasquatch, I work on our game day YouTube broadcasts. I set up cameras, use a laptop camera switcher, do some color commentary with AJ, and pull up graphics, ads, and all things technical. Sometimes, the WiFi fails us and we have to pivot…a LOT. But that’s part of the journey! I’ve been able to meet players, learn their stories, interact with fans, and grow as a coworker and person here. It’s been amazing. I’ve also taken many trips into the canyon and to other parks in nearby states. I just love to travel. Maybe if my career doesn’t work out, I’ll sell a book about philosophy and move into the remote mountains."

"This summer, I have had the incredible opportunity to intern for Vatican News. I have learned an immense amount of new skills from these past few months and have been able to branch out and try different aspects of journalism that I have never done before. For example, I have published articles, recorded pieces for the radio, and have even gotten to interview special guests, like the cast of the tv series, "The Chosen." I am forever grateful to Vatican News for giving me so many opportunities and for being so welcoming. Calling Rome my home for the summer is truly a dream come true!"

"In this role (Digital Content Intern), I keep a close eye on site-wide trends—both by digging into our data tools and simply spending time on the sites—so I can help spark new ideas, offer insights, and recommend best practices for growing our platforms. I also support the newsletter process by helping distribute content to our subscriber lists, check in on scout coverage to ensure it meets publishing standards, and pitch in on a variety of content projects like event coverage prep and outreach to third-party media."

"I had many tasks at the National Press Club’s Journalism Institute including reporting and writing for their daily newsletter, The Latest, where I wrote everything from tip sheets to Q&As. Tip sheets were guides specializing in a specific area of journalism that our readers could use to better their skills. Q&As were interviews I led with prominent journalists, delving into the specifics of their unique jobs. I also worked National Press Club events for club members."

"This summer, I’m a Marketing Intern at Daniels Health in Chicago. Living and working in my dream city, Chicago, has made this summer even more rewarding. I’ve worked on a variety of projects, including writing blogs for our global entities, creating internal communications stories and developing newsletter and sales campaign emails. I also work daily in our website platform, WordPress, optimizing existing blog content across three countries to improve SEO performance. Through these experiences, I’ve been able to apply and refine my writing and strategic thinking skills I’ve developed in the journalism school. I’m excited to continue learning and growing in this role as I gain deeper insights into marketing strategy and execution."

"In this internship I support full time All Points staff through daily to-dos. "This summer I am the Broadcast Intern for the Spearfish Sasquatch in Spearfish South Dakota. It has been so fun enhancing my broadcasting skills but also working and learning alongside one of my best friends, Aidan Wirtz. We have worked together to build each broadcast with the equipment that we have while also telling amazing stories along the way. By far the coolest moment so far was when I interviewed 2x World Series Champion and World Series MVP Ben Zobrist. There are not too many opportunities you get to meet and talk with a guy that has reached the pinnacle of his career, but I was given that experience and it’s one I’ll never forget."

"This summer, I am a News Intern at KCCI 8 News, Iowa's News Leader, in Des Moines. It's been very exciting working my dream internship and being able to shadow the newsroom staff! Daily, I work alongside reporters and photographers on story assignments and breaking news. I have been able to sharpen my multimedia storytelling skills by writing news packages, web stories, and filming stand-ups for my own reporter reel. I'm thrilled to continue learning and growing with everyone here at KCCI throughout the rest of the summer!"
