What is Nur's story?

Nur Hossain holds an MA in Media Innovation from the University of Nevada, Reno, and an MA and BSS in Sociology from the University of Dhaka. During his graduate studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, he worked as a stringer for the Associated Press, covering the most recent U.S. national election.

He is also a U.S. Department of State Exchange Alumnus, having participated in the 2019 Community College Initiative (CCI) Program. As part of this program, he studied journalism for two semesters at Northampton Community College in Pennsylvania.

Before pursuing graduate studies in the United States, Nur worked as a journalist in print and digital media for over five years. His last position was a sub-editor at Prothom Alo, Bangladesh’s leading daily newspaper.

Nur’s research interests center on misinformation and disinformation, social media, and political communication. His work explores the psychological mechanisms behind the spread of false information — how these processes deepen political polarization and undermine public trust in democracy.
