Jonas Nyabor
What is Jonas' Story?
Jonas Nyabor is a graduate student at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. His research focuses on information disorder, digital innovation and journalism practice. He is particularly interested in how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence are adopted and adapted within journalism workflows including for information verification.
Jonas holds a double major in Psychology and Geography from the University of Ghana and has over a decade’s experience in journalism. Before moving to the US for graduate school, he worked at various national and international media outlets as a multimedia journalist.
He was a fellow at DUBAWA, an ICFN-recognized West African digital verification and fact-checking project, and won the Best Fact-Checking Report at the 2022 African Fact-Checking Awards.
Outside of his academic work, he enjoys digital sleuthing, holding digital investigation trainings for African journalists and traveling.
