PhD candidate Patrick Johnson has been selected to receive a research grant from the Michael Hoefges Graduate Student Research Fund. He has also been invited to present his research at the Law & Policy's Pre-Conference Panel at this year’s AEJMC Conference.

Johnson’s project looks to conceptualize what media law, or legal, literacy is as it relates to news literacy, and how educators define this term and implement it in their curricula. His hope is that it provides a pathway to understand how the public learned to critically think about and respond to issues of the First Amendment and the freedom of expression.
