The School of Journalism and Mass Communication awarded scholarships to 94 current students and 10 incoming students who will join SJMC next year. These scholarships are a critical part of student support in SJMC. This year, undergraduate awards totaled more than $450,000.

"We are thrilled to be able to support so many students with such a substantial amount of scholarship money," said SJMC Director Melissa Tully. "SJMC has such wonderful donors and supporters who make these gifts possible and support the next generation of storytellers."

Students received their scholarship certificates and recognition at the annual student exhibition and scholarship celebration held on April 16, 2026. The event also features a gallery of student work from SJMC classes and offers a chance to highlight student work.

Professors submit student work from their courses that they think demonstrate top skill and understanding of the course requirements. This year's showcase, featured student work from a variety of classes, including Audio Production, Graphic Design, Enterprise Reporting, Social Media Marketing, and Video Production.

"The Storytelling Across Media event is such a wonderful way to celebrate SJMC students. I look forward to it every year and it's become such an important part of our spring programming," Tully said.
