The Event Management Certificate traveled in October to Las Vegas for the IMEX conference, one of the largest international conferences in the events industry, drawing more than 17,000 attendees this year.

Students participated in the Future Leaders Forum, a track designed for top senior event management students from around the world and were accompanied by faculty members Tracy Hufford and Heather Spangler who participated in a track designed for event management faculty.

Certificate student Lexie Rudolph says she and her fellow participants gained “invaluable knowledge and skills” through their conference experience.

“I am so thankful for this wonderful opportunity where I was able to learn, network, and connect with event professionals and peers from all over the world,” she says. “I have definitely grown as a student, leader, and aspiring event professional.”

The IMEX conference trip is a capstone experience for top certificate seniors. This was the second year UI Event Management Certificate students participated and plans are already underway to participate again in fall 2024.
