Description

This hands-on course offers students a rare opportunity to experience what it's like to be a sports journalist in one of the largest and most competitive media markets in the United States. Students have the opportunity to engage directly with professionals from leading organizations, including the Chicago Wolves, Big Ten Network, Chicago Bulls, Marquee Network, and CHGO. Students learn how sports journalists pitch, report, and sell stories in a rapidly evolving media landscape, while exploring the innovative ways that sports media organizations engage with their audiences. Whether you're interested in writing, broadcasting, producing, or digital storytelling, this course provides the tools, connections, and real-world perspective to launch a career in sports journalism.

This 3-week hybrid course is typically offered during winter break, and includes pre-trip preparation, 4-5 days onsite in Chicago, and post-trip assignments.
