What is a Peer Mentor?

Peer mentors support and encourage student success, specifically new and first or second year students. Peer Mentors help students throughout the academic year through one-on-one and group meetings. Peer Mentors are knowledgeable guides for students – someone who can provide access to ideas, study tips, resources and serve as a role model and advocate.

Brianna Bohling-Hall

Hello! My name is Brianna, and I am a fourth-year double-majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication and Religious Studies. I am also a nonfiction editor for earthwords: the undergraduate literary review, a founding member of the Religious Studies Undergraduate Steering Committee, and a student researcher with the UI Department of Religious Studies. Most of my expertise is in research writing and longform nonfiction. I am also experienced in working with Figma and Canva on design projects, and Adobe Audition for audio recording and editing.

As a Peer Mentor, I am more than happy to workshop your writing, answer any questions you may have, and help you study for exams and/or projects. As a fun fact, I know Japanese, so if you would rather talk in that language, come find me! I will always be here to help and support you.

Hannah Lipski

Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm a fourth-year Journalism student. I am double majoring with Musical Theatre and also getting a minor in Political Science. Outside of class, I spend a lot of time at the TV studio. I'm a news reporter for The Daily Iowan TV. I mostly cover downtown and bar stories, along with crime, entertainment and arts, along with some politics. I love to sing and dance and I'm a total theatre kid. I am strongest with class topics like reporting, and multimedia, and I'm fluent with Premiere Pro. Come to me if you need any help or just want to chat!
