What is Experiential Learning?

Experiential learning is an engaged learning process whereby students "learn by doing" and by reflecting on the experience. Experiential learning activities can include, but are not limited to, hands-on laboratory experiments, internships, practicums, field exercises, study abroad, undergraduate research and studio performances.

Undergraduate Research

SJMC students can work with faculty on faculty-directed or student-directed research projects. Undergraduate research assistants can be hired as paid student workers to assist with faculty research. Students may also register for an independent study course (JMC:4900) with a faculty member to receive credit for conducting and completing research. If you have an interest in conducting research, reach out to faculty member who shares your interest.
