What's Jason's story?

Jason Brummond is the publisher of The Daily Iowan, the independent and nationally-recognized student newspaper at the University of Iowa. Brummond also serves as publisher of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Sun and Solon Economist, two weekly community newspapers acquired by Student Publications, Inc., in February 2024.

Before joining the Daily Iowan in 2017, Brummond spent seven years at Magid, a market research and consulting firm. While at Magid, he developed content and advertising growth strategies for newspaper and media companies. He’s also worked as a freelance sports reporter.

An Iowa City native, Brummond earned an MBA and bachelor’s degrees in journalism and business from the University of Iowa. He serves on various boards, including the Iowa Newspaper Association and the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s professional advisory board.
