James directed the 1994 documentary “Hoop Dreams,” in which two ordinary inner-city Chicago kids strive for the NBA draft. The documentary won 8 prestigious awards after its release and continues to influence how modern sports documentaries are filmed and received by audiences. We’ll have light refreshments in the rotunda after the conversation.
