Description
Students travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with attorneys and journalists working to protect and advance the First Amendment rights of the press. This course pairs pre-travel readings with on-site activities and reflective writing assignments to help students learn more about media law and envision future careers post-graduation. The experience includes opportunities for students to tour the White House, visit the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, learn from NBC and NPR reporters covering court hearings, and meet with several SJMC alumni working to protect First Amendment rights.
Registration
This course is typically offered over Spring break. Students will be admitted by application only. Spring break 2026 application and registration details to be announced!
