The undergraduate minor in mass communication requires a minimum of 15 s.h., including at least 12 s.h. in advanced courses taken at the University of Iowa. Students must maintain a g.p.a. of at least 2.00 in all courses for the minor and in all UI courses for the minor. Coursework in the minor may not be taken pass/nonpass.

A mass communication minor introduces students to the field of mass communication in a brief setting and provides graduates with an edge in job fields including administration, business, education, law, public policy, and any other field with daily communication. The core classes give non-SJMC majors a new, fresh perspective in their workplace.

Students are encouraged to take a low-level introductory course to begin the process of completing the minor. For an up-to-date list of these courses, please visit the General Catalog links below.

Listed below are the general categories of coursework required to earn the degree; for more specific information on courses, curriculum, and requirements of the minor in ancient civilization, visit the UI General Catalog.
